Check-Up @ KK Hospital

I woke up early this morning to go for my gynaecological screening at KK Women's and Children's Hospital. I will have my pap smear screening (checks for cancer of the cervix) and removing & inserting of a new IUD.

When I reached the hospital, the nurse first had my weight taken.......... Gosh! The weighing machine needle has moved up again...... o.O then she measured my blood pressure and had my urine tested.

When I went into the consultation room, I realised I've forgotten to asked for a female doctor. Anyway, it's too late liao.....

The doctor first asked me to lie down. A small instrument called a speculum is inserted into the vagina to get a clear view of the cervix (neck of the womb).

The nurse told me I will only experience a slight discomfort but it's not true lor! It's painful..... Ouch Ouch Ouch!

He then used a small brush to collect some cells from my cervix and smear them onto a glass slide. The cell sample will then be sent to the laboratory for tests.

Is there anything I can do to avoid getting cervical cancer?

Well after checking the internet, these are what I've found -
You may be able to reduce your risk of cervical cancer if you:
